What you will see in Oxford
Your tour will begin with pick up from your hotel in London. The tour then begins by the journey through the Chiltern Hills onto the city of Oxford. Oxford has been referred to as the "city of dreaming spires" by the poet Matthew Arnold, you will soon see why once you step off the coach and into this wonderful city. You will realise why Oxford has inspired so many scholars and writers who have gone onto great things, a selection of its notable scholars include: the former President Bill Clinton, the writer of "Alice in Wonderland" Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis who penned the "Chronicles of Narnia" and so many more which your guide will describe to you on the day. While on your tour across Oxford, you will be shown Christ Church College, this is the setting for where some of the scenes from the Blockbuster film Harry Potter were shot there. You will also get a chance to see inside the Bodleian Library and visit the stunning college courtyards which are part of the famous Oxford University.
What you will see in Cambridge We will then head onto Cambridge, this is a slightly different city that has a fine blend of normal and the extraordinary. Cambirdge has helped shaped the world with its scholars that have gone onto great things. Cambridge is seen as the inspiration for the English Naturalist Charles Darwin, as well as the notable Physicist Isaac Newton who is considored as one of the greatest and most influential scientists of all time. You will be escorted around Kings College Chapel which dates back to 1441, and you will be taken on a walking tour of Cambridge which is home to such wonderfully stunning buildings and history, including the covered "Bridge of Sighs" which was built in 1831 by Henry Hutchinson and crosses the River Cam. |
